Gangnam Restaurants: 13 Local Picks from Sinsa to Yangjae

Gangnam restaurants worth a stop: 13 local picks from Sinsa sushi to Samseong hangover soup and dog-friendly spots, with prices.

Gangnam restaurants cover everything from Michelin-starred tasting menus to 24-hour hangover soup, and the hard part is knowing where to start. This guide gathers 13 places in and around Gangnam that one regular diner actually visited in 2026: sushi counters in Sinsa and Samseong, a late-night jokbal shop, two dog-friendly spots and a few neighborhood hangouts.

The picks below are adapted from visits by Revitguide reviewer 호미식 (Homisik), who rated each 3.5 out of 5. Think of them as solid places worth a stop when you are nearby, not a ranking. Each section links to the original Korean review.

Where to Eat in Gangnam: The Main Areas

Gangnam (강남) is a big district south of the Han River, and Gangnam restaurants cluster around a few subway hubs. Knowing which one you are near makes planning much easier.

  • Sinsa and Garosu-gil: Sinsa Station (Line 3 and the Shinbundang Line). Cafes, brunch and pasta on the side streets, plus sushi along Dosan-daero.
  • Apgujeong, Cheongdam and Nonhyeon: Apgujeong Rodeo, Gangnam-gu Office and Hakdong stations (Suin-Bundang Line and Line 7). This is fine dining territory, but it also hides old-school BBQ and jokbal shops.
  • Gangnam Station: Line 2 and the Shinbundang Line. Busy, with chains everywhere, so it pays to know a calmer brunch spot.
  • Seolleung, Samseong and Daechi: Line 2 and the Suin-Bundang Line. Office workers fill the soup and gukbap places at lunch, and small sushi bars fill up at night.
  • Yangjae and Bangbae: technically Seocho-gu, next door. Quieter and good for walks along Yangjaecheon stream.

Gangnam Restaurants in Sinsa, Cheongdam and Nonhyeon

Sushiya Dosandaero (스시야 도산대로)

I went for an early lunch, and it felt unusual to sit in the quiet of a place that is normally hard to book. The course built its flavors up step by step, and most pieces paired two tastes that balanced each other. Staff wiped my plate between pieces, which made me feel well looked after.

The finely sliced bigfin reef squid melted in the mouth, the lightly seared Spanish mackerel skin was wonderfully nutty, and the marinated tuna was good. Many pieces were cured in soy or vinegar, so when the seasoning felt strong I sipped warm tea between bites. A rich matcha ice cream closed things neatly, and the chef guided us kindly through the meal.

Muoki (무오키)

Muoki has held a MICHELIN star for years, yet bookings are fairly easy and prices sit a little below other fine dining rooms. Before going, I wondered if that put it in an awkward middle ground. In the end, the dining room was lovely and the food satisfied me. The chicken liver pâté toast, the ravioli and the steak were memorable.

Weighing the atmosphere, the ease of booking and the price, it scored well against places at a similar level. I was sad that the lunch course did not include the signature Muoki egg, but the meal was better than I expected, and now I want to try dinner.

Pasta Trio (파스타 트리오)

Cozy wood tones and a chandelier set a warm, slightly upscale mood that suits a date. We ordered the chadol beef pilaf, the thick carbonara and the signature shrimp oil pasta. The carbonara was rich and creamy without getting heavy, the shrimp pasta had plump shrimp and good seasoning, and the pilaf held its own next to the pasta. Nothing was over-salted.

Jinbae Jokbal (진배족발)

Several people had told me this was a good jokbal place, and it stays open until 5 a.m. The dining room was packed at dinner time, but it emptied quickly after 9 p.m. I ordered the half and half, plain and spicy. The meat was tender and the skin bouncy, with no off smell. There was less lean meat than I expected. The plain side was mild and nutty, while the spicy side had a strong sauce, so pick that if you like bold flavors. The rice balls arrive already shaped, which is handy.

Ttangko Charcoal Grill (땅코참숯구이)

Pork BBQ restaurants in Gangnam that welcome dogs are rare, and this one goes well beyond tolerating them. It was my second visit, both times with my dog, and this time the staff brought out treats and water for her. That small kindness meant a lot.

We had pork neck and pork belly. Compared with the top-ranked pork places on Revitguide, the meat is not overwhelming, but it is solidly good. Staff grill it for you, and the mushrooms they grill at the end were surprisingly tasty. The doenjang soup was satisfying, and the naengmyeon was seasoned strongly enough that it needs no extra mustard or vinegar. For pure meat, I liked their Yeoksam branch a little more.

Gangnam Restaurants for Brunch near Gangnam Station

Slow Coffee (슬로우커피)

There are plenty of brunch places around Gangnam Station. However, what I remember about Slow Coffee is the relaxed space where you can stay a while. It is large, with a big aquarium, turtles and reptiles, so it feels a bit like a small exhibition.

The signature brunch plate came with sausage, salad, carrot rapée, scrambled eggs, avocado, yogurt and bread. The sausage was snappy and juicy, the eggs moist and the avocado ripe, and the salad kept the plate from getting boring. A cute turtle-shaped bread, plain rather than sweet, went well with the yogurt. It is a good choice if you want a slower brunch away from the crowds.

Nongmin Baegam Sundae (농민백암순대)

This sundae gukbap place clearly knows what people like. The broth is rich, the bowl is full of meat, and the flavor makes sense from the first spoonful. Even on a weekday lunch I waited about an hour. You write your name on a whiteboard, and the main shop and the annex next door keep separate lists, so sign up for both and go in wherever calls you first.

Most customers looked like office regulars, but there were plenty of foreigners too. Turnover is quick. The pork bone broth, simmered for 12 hours, is thick, with chewy sundae and head meat inside. Add the chili paste and perilla seed powder for a deeper taste. So the wait is long, but one bowl explains why people keep coming. We cover it in more detail in our Korean sundae guide.

Jungang Haejang (중앙해장)

I came back after about two years. Last time I had the gopchang jeongol (beef intestine hot pot) and still remember it well, so this time I tried the naejangtang (beef offal soup). The offal itself was excellent, clean-tasting and generous. The broth felt mild at first, maybe because I have had so many bold versions in Jeju. A little chili oil brought it closer to the spicy, rich balance I like. Next time I will go back to the gopchang jeongol.

Sushi Aomatsu (스시 아오마츠)

I went because people said it was hot right now. It was a weekday lunch, but a private booking let us have the weekend course, which was a smart move. At ₩90,000 I did not expect much, so it turned out better than I thought. It is not a place for one big knockout punch, but apart from the tuna, the fish held up against any mid-range sushi counter, which is rare among Gangnam restaurants at this price.

Two of the early small dishes stood out, and the octopus texture impressed me more than at most counters. The private booking made the mood relaxed, and the chef was funny, so we laughed through the meal. The closing tea sat somewhere between matcha and green tea and suited the end of the meal. At this price, I would go back.

Sakai (사카이)

Sakai works okonomi style, so you order the pieces you want, and that freedom is its charm. It was my first time having sushi from Chef Jung Ji-young. The fish slices were generous and filled the mouth, the overall quality was good, and my companions loved it too. For this price and this space, the value is strong.

Also, it feels much more relaxed than a traditional sushi bar. Upbeat music plays, conversation flows, and it suits a drink, like a mix of sushi counter food and izakaya mood. The server in the back kept a careful eye on us all night, which lifted the whole meal.

Dongho Charcoal BBQ Hof (동호숯불바베큐호프)

Near Daechi-dong, this is a place where you can have a beer with your dog, which is harder to find in Gangnam than you would think. With the outdoor drinking season ending, plenty of people were enjoying a last autumn night outside. The owner is friendly and it feels like a neighborhood local.

The chicken is better than average, but the surprise was the chicken gizzards. They come without sauce, yet they are already salty and well seasoned, with a good chew, a great beer snack. The draft beer was very crisp. It is not a place for a big food experience, but taste and mood are both solid.

Just Outside Gangnam: Yangjae and Bangbae

These two are in Seocho-gu, the district next door, but they are an easy subway hop from the Gangnam restaurants above.

Comida QQQ (꼬미다 큐큐큐)

I was in Yangjae with my dog that day and looked for a dog-friendly place that also looked tasty. We ordered pulpo, a cuttlefish oil pasta and a beef tenderloin. It clears the basics with ease, and the fact that you can eat this well with your dog makes it even better. Right after we sat down, staff asked if they could bring water for the dog, and they stayed kind even though it was hectic.

The pulpo was the best dish. On the other hand, the pasta and steak were a little plain, but the thinly sliced roasted potatoes next to the steak were memorable. About four groups were waiting at lunch.

Yakitori Miyu (야키토리 미유)

This was my introduction to yakitori. After getting into sushi omakase, I became curious about skewers served one by one in a course. The seasoning was pleasantly salty without being too much. Thigh, breast, skin and heart each had a different texture and aroma, which made it fun. The vegetables were good too, and a rice dish at the end turned it into a proper meal. This is the place that showed me what yakitori is about.
