Jeju Coffee Guide: 9 Cafes Worth the Drive

Jeju coffee guide: 9 cafes around the island, from an espresso romano in Jeju City to garden and sea-view cafes, with hours and tips.

Jeju coffee at Saudade: espresso romano with a slice of lemon

Jeju coffee is about more than the cup. On Jeju Island, a good cafe usually comes with something extra: a sea view, a garden with ducks, a building you want to photograph, or a drink made with local carrots or matcha. This guide covers nine Jeju cafes, from a tiny espresso bar near the airport to garden cafes in Seogwipo, organized by area so you can plan them around your drive.

The picks below are adapted from visits by Revitguide reviewer 호미식 (Homisik), who rated each 4 out of 5. Each section links to the original Korean review on Revitguide.

Jeju Coffee and Cafe Culture: What to Know

Jeju cafes (제주 카페) tend to compete on space as much as on coffee. Many sit on large plots outside the towns, so a cafe stop often doubles as a short walk in a garden or a break with an ocean view. Local ingredients also show up on the menu. For example, Gujwa in the northeast is known for carrots, so carrot juice and carrot cake are common there. In addition, you will see Udo peanut, Jeju tangerine and Jeju matcha drinks across the island.

  • Getting around: most of these cafes are easiest by car or taxi. Only the two Nohyeong spots in Jeju City are in a dense, walkable area.
  • Closing times: countryside cafes often close early, around 17:00 to 18:00. Check the last order time before you drive out.
  • House rules: some garden cafes ask for one drink per person instead of an entry fee, and pet policies differ by cafe.
  • Price range: on these visits, a single espresso cost ₩4,500, while a geisha pour-over and dessert ran to ₩17,000.

1. Saudade Nohyeong (사우다드 노형), Jeju City

Before my visit, I read a few reviews, and one line stuck with me. Someone wrote that after one sip of the espresso romano, they wanted to ask the owner, “What did you do to this espresso?” I thought it sounded a bit exaggerated. Then I took a sip, and that exact sentence came to mind.

Jeju coffee at Saudade: espresso romano with a slice of lemon
Espresso romano with lemon, ₩4,500.

The fresh acidity and aroma of lemon cut through the dense, bitter espresso. Calling it “coffee with lemon” does not do it justice. The lemon lifts the heavy bitterness, so the coffee’s own aroma actually comes through more clearly. The bitterness and acidity do not clash; instead, each one makes the other stand out. As a result, the first sip is quite intense.

The cafe says you can squeeze in more of the lemon on the side if you like, but I did not feel the need. The balance was already good as served. It is a small cup that disappears in a few sips. Still, if I had to pick one memorable coffee from this Jeju trip, it would be a contender. Most good coffee ends at “this is tasty.” Once in a while, though, a coffee makes you think “wait, what is this?” right away. Saudade’s espresso romano was one of those. I will definitely be back.

2. Tinacake Jeju City (티나케이크 제주시점), Jeju City

I first tried Tinacake at its Seogwipo branch while traveling around the south of the island. The Gujwa carrot cake was so good that I went to the Jeju City branch on the day I flew home to the mainland.

The space feels a little different from Seogwipo. It keeps a similar style but has its own charm, and the warm, cozy mood of the brand carries over. This time I took a carrot cake to go. It was still delicious: a moist sponge, soft cream, and the carrot cake flavor kept in balance without being overpowering. Next time, I want to sit in and have the Gujwa carrot cake at its very best. Tinacake is now a natural part of my Jeju plans.

3. Yuji Coffee Works (유지커피웍스), Jeju City

Yuji Coffee Works was the last stop of my Jeju trip. It is relatively close to Jeju Airport, and the parking lot is big, so it works well before you return a rental car. Recent visitors put it at about 15 minutes by car from the airport.

It is a large cafe, yet you cannot take in the whole space at once. The seating is split between two buildings, with a garden flowing between and around them. The first thing I noticed at the entrance was the daengyuji trees, a native Jeju citrus with a long history on the island. They felt like the symbol of the whole place. The buildings stood out too, with long eaves under gabled roofs and huge windows facing the green garden.

The lighting inside is fairly dim. However, it does not feel dark or stuffy. Instead, the view outside looks sharper, as if the room was dimmed to frame the garden like an artwork. I ended up staring out the window before I even touched my drink.

The Matcha Latte

As usual, I ordered a matcha latte. It starts sweet, but a little matcha bitterness stays at the end, so it is not just a sweet drink. If you want a dense, bitter matcha, it may feel a bit soft. Even so, it more than covered the basics, and as a matcha fan I had no real complaints. Overall, Yuji Coffee Works is less about one drink and more about experiencing Jeju plants and architecture together. Next time, I want to try one of the drinks made with daengyuji.

4. Jejudang (제주당), West Jeju (Aewol)

Jejudang is a big bakery cafe in Aewol. It is so well known that I had always meant to go, and I finally made it. I went on a weekend afternoon, and it was packed. The huge parking lot was nearly full, and inside it felt less like a quiet cafe and more like a busy hotspot full of travelers.

The space is definitely large, and the bread selection is wide. Many breads use Jeju themes, such as Jeju tangerine, Udo peanut, aged pumpkin and sweet potato, so browsing was fun. However, because I came late in the afternoon, quite a few breads were already sold out. If you want to see the full range, go in the morning. The coffee was smooth and clean, an easy cup rather than a striking one.

With this many people, it is not a place to read or work quietly. For chatting and picking out bread with family or friends on a trip, though, it works well. Honestly, I was so taken by the space that I forgot to photograph the bread and drinks, which gives me a reason to go back.

5. Maison Notre Terre (메종 노트르테르), West Jeju (Andeok)

I do not know much about coffee, but here I remembered the barista even before the beans. I ordered a Panama Esmeralda Jaramillo geisha. The menu listed jasmine, rose, blackberry, cocoa, vanilla and cinnamon notes, and said the beans came from a farm that won the 2025 Best of Panama triple crown.

While I waited, I chatted with the barista. I had heard he was from France, but his Korean was so natural that I did not notice at first. He has lived in Korea for seven years and has now settled in Jeju. I had also heard he is a well-known barista, yet he was humble and kind. He smiled for photos and explained the beans calmly. I liked the person before I even judged the skill.

A Geisha Pour-Over to Remember

The drip coffee had a striking aroma. A floral scent spread before I even lifted the cup, and surprisingly, it carried through when I drank it. The aroma turned into flavor. I usually cannot pick apart coffee notes, but this cup helped me understand why people call geisha special. Maison Notre Terre is a place where good beans, a careful barista and a relaxed mood stay with you. Even if, like me, you do not know much about coffee, it makes you slow down and savor one cup.

The cafe and roastery is run by a Korean and French couple, and recent posts list hand drip coffee from about ₩8,000 up to ₩35,000 for rare lots. They also sell their own ceramics and drip bags.

6. Naite, My Own Table (나이테, 나의 이로운 테이블), East Jeju (Sehwa)

This might be the best-located cafe in Sehwa, looking right over Sehwa Beach. The second floor has full-height windows, so you see the sea from up high. Sitting by the window, you feel like you are traveling even if you go nowhere else.

Mango bingsu, the order of the day.

If you like dogs, say hello to Ogu, the dog who looks after the cafe. Ogu is not wary of people and has very gentle eyes. Even people who are not dog lovers will find it hard to walk past. The interior is cozy, and parts of it are set up like a small gift shop, so there is plenty to browse. Better still, the staff were friendly, which made the whole stay pleasant.

The mango bingsu I ordered was satisfying too. Sweet, rich mango with soft shaved ice is a combination that rarely fails. Good views, kind people and Ogu: a memorable cafe for a break while looking out at Sehwa Beach.

7. Cafe 477 Plus (카페477플러스), East Jeju (Sehwa)

This cafe has everything you need for a little romance. The space is tidy and stylish, and as one of the biggest cafes in Sehwa village, it never feels cramped. The number 477 in the name means something too: I was told it refers to the 477 local residents and members who came together to found it as a village cooperative cafe. Because of that, it felt like a place that carries the identity and story of the neighborhood, not just a spot for coffee.

The sea view from the windows is lovely. It is also a great place to open a laptop and work, or simply sort out your thoughts. Gujwa is famous for carrots, so be sure to try the carrot juice here. If you want a cafe break in Gujwa with a view, a relaxed mood and a local story, I think you will be happy here.

  • Good to know: the third-floor workspace is free for cafe customers

Heading further east toward Seongsan for more Jeju coffee? Fritz Coffee also has a Seongsan branch, which is popular with coffee fans visiting that side of the island.

8. Of Sequence (오브시퀀스), Southeast Jeju (Pyoseon)

This place had everything I love in one spot: matcha, a garden and a dog. Of Sequence is known for bread and drinks made with organic ingredients. It was my first visit, so I ordered the Jeju matcha and a plain shokupan (Japanese-style milk bread). The matcha was thick, rich and sweet, exactly my style.

Walking in felt like visiting a peaceful family home abroad. The green garden, the calm mood and the dog made me want to stay for a long time. In particular, it struck me as a great cafe for reading quietly. The plain shokupan was better than I expected: soft and moist, mild yet full of flavor. It went well with the matcha and with the mood of the space.

There is a large parking lot and group seating, so it is easy to visit. The owner was also very friendly, which made my first impression even better. When I want a quiet break in Jeju, this is a cafe I will think of again.

  • Hours: daily 10:00 to 17:00, last order 16:30, per a visitor post from October 2026
  • Good to know: shokupan comes in plain, chocolate, pumpkin and matcha flavors

9. Cafe Damsoyo (카페 담소요), South Jeju (Namwon)

Cafe Damsoyo is in Namwon, Seogwipo. I had wanted to go for a while, but its location made it hard to fit in, until this trip. The cafe building itself is not very big, but the outdoor garden is wide and beautiful. The green view alone is calming.

Drinks are on the pricier side, but if you think of it as a garden fee, it makes sense. Tables are spread out generously, and with a pond and ducks, the whole place feels peaceful. It also looked like a good spot to bring a dog, and a sunny day would make it even better.

There was no matcha on the menu, so I ordered the signature milk tea with a cheesecake. Neither was especially distinctive, but they were easy to enjoy. Above all, the big garden outside the window made them taste better. In short, you come to Damsoyo for the garden more than the Jeju coffee. One note: closing time is early, so arrive early if you want to take your time.

More Jeju Coffee Stops Rated 3.5

These extra picks are adapted from visits by Revitguide reviewer 호미식 (Homisik), who rated each 3.5 out of 5.

Guau Chocolat (구아우쇼콜라), Gimnyeong

This chocolate specialist in Gimnyeong is a fun break from Jeju coffee. I ordered the 100% chocolat chaud and the signature basalt chocolate. The drink has almost no sweetness, just a deep, heavy cacao flavor that grows on you. The basalt chocolate is full of holes like Jeju stone, so it crumbles easily in your mouth, and a sip of the bitter drink with a bite of chocolate works surprisingly well together.

Gimnyeong-e Saneun Kim Younghoon (김녕에사는김영훈), Gimnyeong

The name means “Kim Younghoon who lives in Gimnyeong”, and that alone made me walk in. I had a Guatemala Huehuetenango with notes of apricot, cacao and chocolate on the bean card. It was gently sweet and nutty rather than sharply acidic, with a clean finish. I came in curious about the name and left curious about the other coffees.

Area: Gimnyeong, Gujwa-eup (east Jeju). Open in Naver Map. Original review on Revitguide

Jadeboupan (자드부팡), Seonheul

I ordered the brick bread and a coconut cream latte. The bread was crisp outside and soft inside, and the ice cream on the brioche butter toast paired well with the warm bread. The latte had sweet cream on top and coffee strong enough to hold its own. The weather was gray that day, but the quiet space and soft background music were what stayed with me. I would like to come back on a clear day.

Area: Seonheul-ri, Jocheon-eup (inland northeast). Open in Naver Map. Original review on Revitguide

Slow Matcha (슬로우말차), Seogwipo

This matcha cafe sits inside a hotel and asks you to choose between mild, deep green and smoky matcha, which made this matcha fan very happy. The base and syrup come separately so you can set the sweetness yourself. My only small complaint was getting a disposable cup because I came near closing time. For more matcha in Jeju, see our Jeju matcha guide.

Upopoi (우포포이), Jeju City

A friend insisted on a cafe with dogs, so we came for Ringo and Star, the two resident dogs. Ringo is happy to be petted, while Star prefers to be admired from a distance. The surprise was the matcha: it was not on the menu, but the owner made one for me, and it was rich and properly bitter. Go for the dogs, and let Star set the pace.

Jacky Coffee (자키커피), Dongmun Market

A small espresso bar inside Dongmun Market that feels like a cafe in a city alley abroad. I ordered the signature Short Vanilla: a strong latte with vanilla ice cream melting into it, somewhere between a latte and an affogato, and the coffee never got lost. It is more of a coffee lover’s stop than a typical Jeju scenery cafe. See our Dongmun Market food guide for nearby eats.

Area: Dongmun Market area, Jeju City. Open in Naver Map. Original review on Revitguide

Orrn (오른), Seongsan

Orrn is more about the view than the coffee. Big windows face Seongsan Ilchulbong and the sea, and most seats look out at it. I had a peanut coffee (₩8,500) and a matcha latte (₩8,000). The prices are high, but the drinks were solid and on a sunny day the view feels like part of the bill. Pair it with our Seongsan Ilchulbong food guide.

Tips for a Jeju Coffee Day

  • Plan by area. Jeju is bigger than it looks, so for a Jeju coffee crawl, pair cafes that are close together, such as Naite and Cafe 477 Plus in Sehwa, or Saudade and Tinacake in Nohyeong.
  • Go early for bread. At bakery cafes like Jejudang, popular breads sell out by the afternoon.
  • Check the weekly schedule. Maison Notre Terre opens only four days a week, Damsoyo closes on Tuesdays and Naite on Sundays.
  • Save one for the airport run. Saudade, Tinacake Jeju City and Yuji Coffee Works are all in or near Jeju City.

Traveling beyond Jeju? See our Busan food guide, or for Seoul cafe neighborhoods, our guides to Seongsu-dong and Ikseon-dong. You can find more island picks in our Jeju category.

FAQ

Where can I find the best Jeju coffee for coffee lovers?

On these visits, the standouts for the coffee itself were Saudade’s espresso romano in Jeju City and the geisha hand drip at Maison Notre Terre in Andeok. Most other picks here are better known for their views, gardens or desserts than for the Jeju coffee itself.

Which Jeju coffee spots are close to the airport?

Saudade and Tinacake are both in Nohyeong, a short drive from Jeju Airport. Yuji Coffee Works is about 15 minutes away by car and has a large parking lot, which makes it handy before returning a rental car.

Do I need a car to visit Jeju cafes?

For most of them, yes. The cafes in Aewol, Andeok, Sehwa, Pyoseon and Namwon are spread out in the countryside, so a rental car or taxi is the practical option.

What local flavors should I try at Jeju cafes?

Look for Gujwa carrot (juice or cake), Jeju matcha, tangerine and Udo peanut. Cafe 477 Plus is a good place for carrot juice, and Tinacake is known for its carrot cake.

Are Jeju coffee shops open late?

Many countryside cafes close between 17:00 and 18:00, and some have weekly closing days. Jejudang is an exception, staying open until 21:00. Always check Naver Map on the day.

We checked prices and hours in November 2026, and they can change. Check Naver Map before you go.
