Terarosa Coffee (테라로사) is one of Korea’s best-known specialty coffee roasters, and it runs two large cafes on Jeju’s south coast: a red-brick garden cafe near Soesokkak in Seogwipo, and a drive-thru branch with a second-floor bookstore on the road into Jungmun. We visited both in summer 2026. Here is what each one is like, what we ordered, and how to choose between them.
This guide is adapted from two visits by Revitguide reviewer 호미식 (Homisik), who rated each branch 3.5 out of 5. Read the original Korean reviews on Revitguide: Seogwipo and Jungmun.

What Is Terarosa Coffee?
Terarosa started in 2002 as a coffee roasting factory with a cafe attached, in the countryside of Gujeong-myeon outside Gangneung on Korea’s east coast. Its founder, Kim Yong-deok, left a banking career of about twenty years to open it. Putting the roastery inside the cafe was unusual in Korea at the time, and Terarosa is often credited with starting the “factory cafe” style. The name comes from terra rossa, the red soil where coffee grows well.
Gangneung is now famous for coffee, and Terarosa played a large part in that. The original Coffee Factory in Gangneung is still open every day. In 2026 the founder sold his remaining shares, and the company is now run by professional managers, but the brand, the roasting and the big, design-led cafes carry on. Every branch sells its own beans and drip bags, so the Jeju cafes double as a place to pick up coffee to take home.
Terarosa Coffee Seogwipo: A Garden Cafe Near Soesokkak
The Seogwipo branch sits in Hahyo-dong, close to Soesokkak, the river gorge on the south coast. You walk in past Jeju stone walls and old trees to a red-brick building, and Visit Jeju notes that the grounds sit next to a tangerine orchard. There is a free parking lot, and nearby free parking if it fills up.

Our visit: the space stayed with me more than the matcha
At Terarosa Seogwipo I ordered a matcha. It was fine. It was not especially strong and did not leave a special impression, but it was easy to drink. To be honest, Terarosa is a coffee place, and I gave in and had matcha anyway. Next time I will order coffee.
What I remember from this place is the space, not the matcha. There are high ceilings, a dark brown interior, and tall windows filled with green from outside. Looking out, it felt less like sitting in a cafe and more like staying in the middle of a garden.

The room is quite large, yet it never felt stuffy. The windows and the high ceiling open up the view, and the dark wood inside contrasts naturally with the bright green outside. I also enjoyed sitting on the tiered seats and looking out of the window. It felt less like a stop for coffee and more like a place to slow down for a while.

The outdoor garden was impressive too. Tangerine trees, stone walls and old trees flow into the building, and it is a nice place to wander slowly through a very Jeju landscape. The catch was that it was midsummer and far too hot. Walking outside for long or sitting on the terrace was hard, so I could not really enjoy the garden. On a cool spring or autumn day, I think the place would show its charm much better.
In the end, what stayed with me from this visit was not the taste of the matcha but the view through the windows and the feel of the space. I would like to come back in a pleasant season and take my time walking through the garden.
Hours, menu and prices at the Seogwipo branch
The sign on the door when we visited read “Everyday 9am to 6pm, last order 5:30pm”, which matches Terarosa’s store list. The same sign lists the main drinks:
- Drip coffee: from ₩6,500
- Espresso (double): from ₩5,500
- Americano: ₩5,500
- Cafe latte: ₩6,000
- Pressed juice: ₩8,000
The sign also shows no pets, no smoking and no outside food. Terarosa’s app has listed later closing times for this branch, so check Naver Map before an evening visit.

Terarosa Coffee Jungmun: Drive-Thru With a Bookstore
The Jungmun Eco Lounge DT branch is on Iljuseo-ro, the main road that leads into the Jungmun resort area. It has a drive-thru lane and parking, and it stays open later than the Seogwipo branch.
Our visit: a safe choice for a group
When you are looking for a cafe in Jungmun for a group, the choice is harder than it sounds. If the space is too small it is uncomfortable, and if the coffee is weak that is a letdown too. In that situation, Terarosa is a choice with a low chance of failure.
The Jungmun branch has a drive-thru, but once you step inside, the space makes a bigger impression than you might expect. The high ceiling opens up the view, and framed pieces hang on the walls like artworks, so it feels a little like walking into a small gallery rather than a cafe.

There is also a bookstore on the second floor. You cannot eat or drink up there, so think of it as a place to browse books. It was fun to go up for a quick look between sips.

The peanut coffee I ordered paired sweet peanut cream with coffee nicely. The nutty flavor comes first, then the bitterness of the coffee holds it up, so it was easy to drink like a dessert. This is not a cafe you visit expecting a huge personality. It is closer to a place that reliably does both space and coffee above the basics.
If you are wondering where to take family or a group for coffee in Jungmun, this is an easy one to recommend. When you just want good coffee in a big, comfortable space, Terarosa was still a safe choice.
Which Terarosa Coffee Branch Should You Visit?
- Choose Seogwipo if you want the garden, the brick building and a slow hour by the windows. Pair it with a walk at Soesokkak, and come in spring or autumn if you can, since the garden is hard to enjoy in midsummer heat.
- Choose Jungmun if you are staying in the Jungmun resort area, traveling with a group, or want a drive-thru coffee on the way. It also stays open until 20:00.
- For coffee, order drip or espresso drinks. Our matcha was only average, so on a first visit we would stick to what Terarosa is known for.
- Both branches sell beans and drip bags, which make easy gifts from Jeju.
