Seongsu-dong is the old factory district east of central Seoul that turned into the city’s favorite place for cafes, bakeries and pop-up stores. This guide covers the best Seongsu restaurants and cafes: Cafe Onion, the salt bread bakeries people line up for, Korean restaurants worth the wait, and a simple route around the cafe street. (Chinese: 聖水洞美食 / 圣水洞, Japanese: 聖水 カフェ.)
Almost everything here is a short walk from Seongsu Station (Line 2). Exits 2, 3 and 4 put you right on the cafe streets.

Best Cafes in Seongsu-dong
Cafe Onion Seongsu (어니언 성수)
The cafe that started the Seongsu look. Cafe Onion took over a building first built around 1970, which later served as a supermarket and a metal factory, and kept the bare concrete walls. It is still one of the busiest stops in the neighborhood. The signature is the pandoro, a tall Italian brioche buried in powdered sugar.

Seongsu-dong Cafe Street
The blocks between Seongsu Station Exits 3 and 4 and Yeonmujang-gil are packed with cafes, bakeries and concept stores, and the lineup changes often. Walk Yeonmujang-gil (연무장길) from end to end and stop wherever the line looks reasonable. If you only have time for one coffee, Cafe Onion is the classic choice.
Salt Bread in Seongsu
Salt bread (sogeumppang, 소금빵) is a buttery roll with a crisp, salty bottom, and Seongsu is one of the best places in Seoul to try it.
Jayeondo Salt Bread (자연도소금빵 in 성수)
Jayeondo sells exactly one thing: salt bread, in bags of four, to take away. The original shop is on Yeongjongdo island near Incheon Airport, and the Seongsu branch is known for selling around 7,000 rolls a day. The line looks long but moves fast because there is only one item.

Anhongmao (안홍마오)
Vietnamese food by a fine dining chef, in a basement room full of Vietnamese touches. We ordered spicy chicken pho, fried pork and chicken rice. We rarely eat Vietnamese food, yet it suited our taste well. When we visited in October 2025, pets were allowed and the staff even brought water for our dog; check current rules before you go.

Seongsu Pop-up & Shopping Route
Seongsu is as famous for shopping as it is for food. Brand flagship stores and short-term pop-ups fill the streets around Yeonmujang-gil, and many visitors plan a whole afternoon here. A simple half-day route:
- Morning: Pandoro and coffee at Cafe Onion (Exit 2).
- Late morning: Walk Yeonmujang-gil and the Exit 3 and 4 side streets for pop-ups, beauty flagships and fashion stores.
- Lunch: Sotbap at Solsot or crab roe bibimbap at Gebang Sikdang (book ahead).
- Afternoon: Pick up salt bread at Jayeondo at a baking time, then walk to Seoul Forest park.
- Dinner: Jokbal at Seongsu Jokbal.
Pop-ups change every few weeks, so check Instagram or Naver for what is on during your visit.
