Momos Coffee (모모스커피) is the specialty coffee brand most people mean when they talk about coffee in Busan. It started in 2007 as a tiny takeout counter near Oncheonjang, and in 2019 its co-founder Jeon Joo-yeon became the first Korean to win the World Barista Championship. Today the company runs four shops, all in Busan. This guide covers two of them that I visited in 2026: the big Yeongdo Roastery & Coffee Bar on the harbor, and the newer branch inside Domoheon, the former Busan mayor’s residence.

The notes below are adapted from two visits by Revitguide reviewer 호미식 (Homisik), who rated each 3.5 out of 5.

What Is Momos Coffee?

Momos began on 14 June 2007 as a 13-square-meter takeout spot by Oncheonjang in northern Busan. Over the following years it grew into a roaster with its own green coffee buying. The brand says it works with around 150 partner farms in 16 countries and roasts beans to order for its online shop.

The turning point came in 2019. That year Jeon Joo-yeon, a Momos co-founder, won the World Barista Championship in Boston, the first Korean to take the title. The trophy now stands near the entrance of the Yeongdo roastery. Since then Momos has opened the Yeongdo Roastery & Coffee Bar (December 2021), a Marine City shop in Haeundae (May 2024) and the Domoheon branch (September 2024). Its motto is “Specialty for All”.

Momos Coffee Yeongdo Roastery & Coffee Bar

I had been to Busan many times, and then suddenly realized I had never visited Momos Coffee. That felt wrong, so I made it the very first stop of my trip in March 2026.

Parking, crowds and the space

You can park in front of the Yeongdo shop. Around 10 a.m. there were plenty of open seats, but by noon the parking spaces were almost all taken, so the crowd clearly changes a lot by the hour. On this day my hotel was close, so I walked over.

Inside, the space was much bigger than I expected. Through a glass wall you can see the coffee warehouse and the roasting area, so it feels less like a cafe and more like a coffee factory or an exhibition. I had seen it in videos beforehand, but in person the scale and mood were even more impressive. High ceilings, roomy seating, and coffee tools and merchandise everywhere gave me plenty to look at. There was even a QR code for an audio guide, like in a museum.

Ordering and the latte

You can order with the staff directly or from the QR code on your table. A family ahead of me struggled with the QR menu, and a staff member stepped in and took their order in person. It was a small moment, but the service felt warm, in contrast to the slightly cold impression a big space can give.

I ordered a cafe latte. It smelled good even as I carried it back to my seat. On the first sip, the nutty notes of the beans flowed naturally into the texture of the milk. The coffee did not get lost in the milk, and the bean aroma did not stick out either. It was one of the more satisfying lattes I have had lately.

The space alone is worth a stop on a Busan trip. In the end, though, the reason I want to go back is the coffee.

Momos Coffee Domoheon: Coffee in a Former Mayor’s Residence

Domoheon (도모헌) is the old official residence of the Busan mayor, which the city opened to the public in September 2024 as a space for walking, rest and talks. Momos was picked as its first cafe operator, and in September 2026 the city selected Momos again, so the branch will stay until at least August 2028. According to the city, close to 590,000 people had visited Domoheon by early September 2026.

A cafe that feels like a culture space

The renovation kept the mood of the original architecture and the garden while giving it a modern finish. So “a cultural space where you experience the garden and the building together” fits it better than the word cafe. Greenery continues beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the interior is calm and unhurried. It has a different feel from the other Momos Coffee shops.

I went on a weekday in September, and it was still busy enough that the seats were almost full.

What I ordered

At a Momos Coffee shop I probably should have ordered coffee, but that day I could not resist the matcha. It tasted easygoing, with nothing that stood out in either direction.

Rather than stopping by just for the cafe, it is a good place to take a walk and enjoy the view while you are there. The only catch is that the way up can feel a little long. It is a nice spot for a drink and a stroll at the same time.

Good to know: Domoheon

  • Address: 60 Hwangnyeongsan-ro 7beon-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan (부산 수영구 황령산로7번길 60)
  • Cafe hours: Tuesday to Friday and Sunday 10:00–18:00, Saturday 10:00–20:00, closed Monday (Momos Coffee website).
  • Getting there: Visit Busan lists it as about a 9-minute walk from Namcheon Station (Line 2), Exit 2. The path climbs, so expect a short uphill walk.
  • Entry to the Domoheon grounds is free, and Visit Busan notes that parking is available.

Which Momos Coffee Branch Should You Visit?

  • For coffee first: go to Yeongdo. You see the roasting up close, the menu is the widest, and the latte was the highlight of my two visits.
  • For a slower afternoon: choose Domoheon and pair it with a walk in the garden. It sits a short ride from Gwangalli Beach, so you can combine the two.
  • Go early: both shops were busy. At Yeongdo, mornings were calm and noon was packed.
  • Take beans home: Momos sells whole beans and drip bags at the shops, which make easy gifts.
